Deacon's First Bath

Deacon got his first bath on Thanksgiving while we were in Utah. I was anxiously awaiting this event because he absolutely loved having a sponge bath. His little umbilical cord took forever to fall off but as soon as it did we stuck him in the tub and he loved it!

One Month

Deacon turned one month old today...where is the time going? I am loving every day with him and wish time would slow down. I almost feel frantic not wanting to miss out on one second with him. Before he was born I wondered whether I would have a hard time sharing him with others and I was exactly right. I am getting better but I'll admit I have been quite the "baby hog" with him!
Here is what Deacon is up to at one month old:
Loves having his diaper changed...he is so vocal and coos and smiles while we change him
Sleeps between 5-6 hours at night...unfortunately he isn't always the best napper during the day
Loves to nurse...at least I think he does seeing as that's all he wants to do the past few days
Hates to burp but throws up if he doesn't
Still has a head full of blonde hair
Holds his head up really well
Likes to stand on his feet
Loves to be swaddled and bounced
Smiles...Alan and I like to think he is smiling at us
Loves to sprawl out on the ottoman
Hates getting in his car seat but likes going for car rides
Loves to look around
We feel so blessed to have this sweet boy in our home and can't imagine life without him!

Swaddled

Our little Deacon LOVES to be swaddled. I think it's safe to say that swaddling is one thing that will almost always calm him when he is upset. I kept joking with Alan that I wondered what it felt like to be swaddled. Well I can now tell you because I tried it. I now know why Deacon likes it so much...I wish I was a baby!

2 Weeks

Our sweet Deacon turned 2 weeks old today. We are absolutely loving every second with him. Yes, it has been the hardest and most emotional thing I have ever experienced but also the most amazing and rewarding experience as well. As I sit here typing with one hand, I am amazed at the little miracle sleeping in the other. I am SO lucky!
Our little man had his 2 week check-up and I am so glad its over. He had his dreaded circumcision and also had his tongue clipped. Deacon was slightly tongue tied at birth. His doctor was on the fence about whether they should clip it. After 2 weeks of difficult feedings, we made the decision to clip it...and we are so glad! He is eating so much better and I'm hopeful we are on the uphill!
2 week stats...
Weight: 8 pounds 11 ounces-50th percentile
Height: 20 1/4 inches-36th percentile

We are so in love...

Our Little Miracle

I'm not sure how to express in words the story of Deacon coming into this world. So for now...here is a video of the most perfect day of our lives.
