Chevron Wall

I have been trying to decide how to paint the nursery for several months and finally decided that I wanted to paint a Chevron wall. I knew that Alan and I wouldn't be able to do this project on our own so I recruited my dad to help us. I think my dad was hoping and praying I would change my mind because he knew how much work it would be. However, I had my mind set and there was no turning back! My dad made the trek up to Pocatello last weekend to help us with the project.
Alan and my dad spent one full night doing calculations and making a blueprint of the design. I can't imagine how tired they must have been because my brain hurt just listening to them!
We made a "sacred" pattern that turned out to be a lifesaver!
The taping alone literally took us 9 hours. Although I am not in any of these pictures I did paint every edge of tape to make sure it was sealed before we started painting with the grey. Oh, and I provided lots of moral support and made sure the men were well fed and hydrated!
We were a bit nervous to pull off the tape and expected to have a lot of touch ups. However, I now swear by Frog Tape and seriously want to do a testimonial for the company! That stuff is amazing!
And now for the finished product...
We are so happy with how it turned out. A big thanks to Alan and my Dad for helping me with this very time consuming/annoying project. And thanks to my dad for sacrificing his weekend to come to Poky to help us.
More pictures to come when the nursery is complete!

Baby Bump

I figured it was time for a pregnancy update. I'm on the fence about posting belly pictures but I feel like I need to document this amazing time.
I am absolutely loving being pregnant. Don't get me wrong...there are definitely some not so fun things about being pregnant but I think the good far outweighs the bad. I finally started feeling better (aka stopped puking my guts out at about 22 weeks). Thank goodness! Probably my only complaint at this point is heartburn. Never in my life have I experienced this before and it is miserable! I now have a sympathy for anyone who gets it! I am loving feeling our little guy move and kick. It never gets old.
We are getting so excited to meet the little babe but still have a lot to do in preparation for his arrival. We painted the nursery this past weekend (pictures to come) and we are thrilled with how it turned out!
So here are the latest pictures of the baby bump. Apparently, I really like black...

Summer Campout

We have been wanting to go camping all summer with our friends but have had a hard time finding a weekend that worked for everyone. Well we finally went last weekend but it was a short trip and we were missing a few people. It was still a great time and I survived the overnighter being almost 7 months prego! However, my back was definitely feeling it the next day.
After setting up camp we cooked our tinfoil dinners. I am bound and determined to master my tinfoil dinner and I have a long way to go. I'm desperate for any tips...
It was Angela's first time making a tinfoil dinner.

{Brooks and Lindsey}
{Cali & Spencer}
Cali cooked up some popcorn over the fire...delicious!
I was loving this chair...I think I need one.
Out of the four girls that went camping, three of us are pregnant! And what's even crazier is that out of the 12 townhouses we live in, six of us are pregnant and due just a couple months apart. Something must be in the water. We are so excited to have a street full of babies!
{Angela-3 months, Cali-4 months, Emily-6 months}
We planned on cooking a big breakfast in the morning but our broken stove put a damper in our plans. Maybe next year...

24th of July Float

A couple weeks ago, we were asked along with some of our neighbors (aka the Bengal View Compound) to be in charge of our stake's 24th of July parade float. Yes, we have been named the Bengal View compound by our ward apparently. We basically had no budget and literally no time to put it together due to all of our summer vacations. I'm pretty sure we didn't even stand a chance at winning but we got the job done. And I must say it was a pretty fun evening putting it all together.

The theme of the parade was "Faith of Our Fathers". We got extra creative and did a geneology theme.
Rather than constructing a tree from scratch, Brooks took the initiative to cut down a tree for us. The only problem was that it was a bit dead by the time the parade came around. So we decided to spruce it up with some pom pom balls.
We recruited some awesome ward members to ride on the float and they played the part well.
Cali's artwork was a big hit at the parade.
We all rode in the truck that pulled the float and it made it all worth it to hear the crowd screaming "Hey look it's a family tree".
Our fingers are crossed that this was a one time assignment!

Babymoon Birthday

Alan turned the big 26 on July 17th. We figured it was the perfect weekend to take a little vacation, especially with the baby coming in only 3 short months. We decided to head to Park City for a couple of days. It was so fun to get away and spend some time just the two of us...wish we could do it more often!

We went to a concert at the canyons one night.
You had to sit on this massive hill to watch the concert. I think I nearly went into pre-term labor walking to the top to find a seat but it was well worth it. I don't know if we have ever laughed so hard watching the crazy characters that were sitting around us.
I'm not sure why I have never partaken of the "apple pie" caramel apple from the Chocolate Factory before. We are already planning our next trip to Park City to get another one.
We did some hiking one night and found the coolest trail.
I tried to make the hotel room festive for Alan's big day!
Alan requested Thai food for his birthday meal.
And he enjoyed dessert in bed later that night.
And while Alan celebrated his birthday, I made it to 25 weeks! I'm realizing my wardrobe is diminishing the bigger I get as I seem to be wearing the same few outfits in all my pictures....slightly embarrassing!
We had such a fun weekend and thoroughly enjoyed some much needed R&R. And a big shout out to the the most amazing husband I could ever ask for. I am a very lucky girl.

4th of July Weekend

I am way late on posting about our 4th of July but better late than never right? We spent the 4th in Utah and had a fabulous time with our families. We were also lucky to have my sister and her cute family in town from California. Here are some highlights from our trip...

Alan got to meet Holden for the first time. He really could not be any cuter and what was even cuter was watching Alan with him. He is going to be the best dad! He has been nicknamed the baby whisperer and did I mention he changed his first diaper? We may need to practice that a few more times before our little guy gets here!
We also spent some quality time with sweet little Weston....who we are slightly obsessed with! Alan and Weston were the best of friends by the end of the trip.
We spent some time with Alan's family and were so happy that Mikey was also in town from Denver.
We had a cookout in the canyon one night. Living in Idaho has really made us miss and appreciate the mountains in Utah.
{Shannon, Angela, and me}
We also had breakfast in the canyon on the morning of the 4th. This is a tradition that my mom's family has always had and it is so much fun.
{Some of the Aiken cousins}
{Sibling Love}
And what is the 4th of July without a family BBQ
{Scott, Alan, and Cam manning the grill}
{The whole Neidig clan...minus a few}
{Sporting the baby bump}
And of course fireworks
I think the highlight of my trip was watching Weston put his hand in his pocket!
We had such a fun weekend!

BBQ

We recently had a fun little BBQ with some of our neighbors and friends. Oh how grateful I am for our friends we have met here in Poky. Unfortunately, I only got a picture of the girls.
Alan has a new little friend. I can't get over how cute little Cash is. Seeing him with Alan makes me so excited for our little guy!
