Memorial Day and the Bees Game

This post is a bit late but we had a fabulous Memorial Day and enjoyed spending time with our families. The evening started off with a barbeque with the Neidig clan. The BBQ consisted of great food, croquet, and entertainment provided by Lucas. We love this boy and have been so blessed since he was born!

After the BBQ we headed over to Alan's house. I played Wii Fit for the first time and unfortunately my age was 35! I've got some work to do!

We also went to the Bees game last weekend with Alan's family. It was a blast and they did fireworks at the end of the game.

And best of all...my sweet husband brought me flowers before the game. I love him!

We are grateful for the time we are able to spend with our families and are so blessed to have them in our lives!

We're Home!!!

We recently returned from our honeymoon to Cancun. It was fabulous and fortunately we didn't have to use these...

The whole Swine Flu scare actually worked out for our benefit because Cancun was absolutely dead! We felt like we had the whole place to ourselves, although, we couldn't help but feel bad for the Mexican economy. We had so much fun and are so grateful everything worked out and we came home safe and healthy! Here are some highlights from the trip...
Here is the view of the pool area at the resort

And here is the view from our room. We were so lucky to have a room that was overlooking the beach...it was beautiful!

We spent the first day just lounging at the beach

We were able to attend church on Sunday. It was a miracle that we were able to find the church...thanks to Alan's Spanish! He had so much fun being able to speak in Spanish and it definitely came in handy finding our way around the town. Lucky for me they asked me to play the piano, however, I don't think the congregation was quite as lucky! I'm a little rusty!

This is in front of the hotel before going into town for dinner one night

We took a ferry over to a little island called Isla de Mujeres one day. We rented a scooter and drove around the island. It was a blast!

We found a little beach that was absolutely beautiful and there were literally only about 10 people there!

That night we went to an awesome Thai restaurant where you ate on a bed in a hut in a tree! The food was great and how often do you get to eat dinner on a bed in a tree?!

We took sail boat lessons one day and sailed for our first time

That night we ate dinner at a restaurant right out on the ocean

We found this on our way back to our hotel and thought it was pretty funny...

We rented a car one day and drove to Tulum and Xel-Ha. Tulum is a place that has ancient Mayan ruins and we snorkeled, biked, and floated down a river at Xel-Ha. We ate dinner in a cute little beach town called Playa Del Carmen that night.

We loved hanging out at the pool and Alan's highlight of the trip was free chips and salsa at happy hour!

It was a perfect honeymoon!

Cancun!!!

We are headed to Cancun tomorrow for our belated honeymoon! We are so excited and just a tiny bit nervous about the swine flu scare. But don't worry...we have stocked up on lysol wipes and hand sanitizer. It is going to be fabulous and a much needed vacation after the craziness of the last couple of months! Oh...and I wanted to congratulate Alan on graduating with his bachelors this semester from Westminster. I am so proud of him. And the good news...four years down, only four more to go! I will post when we get home from our trip!

So it has officially been one month since the big day! Time sure does fly by. I just wanted to take a brief moment to express my gratitude to my beautiful wife and all that she does for me. Being married there are so many little details that need to be taken care of and she is always a step ahead of me! She is so great! So to commemorate this special occasion I compiled a top ten list of the fabulous blessings that married life with Emily has held.

9- Having a house that always smells yummy
8- A stylish well decorated home-
7- Always being able to hear her cute little laugh
6- Having someone to celebrate the little successes of life with
5- Amazing home cooked dinners
4- Having someone to eat breakfast with in the morning
3- Waking up and still having her asleep by my side
2- Coming home from a long hard day to her beautiful smiling face

The results are in...

Alan had an interview for the Idaho State University College of Pharmacy one month ago. He also had interviews scheduled in Vermont and Massachusetts this weekend. We have been waiting to hear back from Idaho to see if he was accepted and that was going to determine whether or not Alan interviewed back East. It has been nerve racking because he didn't book any plane tickets because Idaho State told him he would hear back the first week of April. We knew it would be close but we decided to hold out and wait to hear if he was accepted before planning a trip back East. Luckily, the letter came on Monday. It arrived at Alan's parent's house and we had to wait until eight o'clock that night to open it because Alan had work. Let's just say it was a long day of waiting. On the drive to Alan's house we were talking about how it was kind of like opening a mission call but possibly worse because instead of going for two years it would be four. Well I am happy to announce that Alan was accepted and he will begin school in the fall. I'm still getting used to the idea of living in Pocatello for four years but we are excited that we will still be very close to family and friends. I am so proud of Alan. We feel very blessed because out of 1000 applicants, only 10 out of state students were accepted! He is such a hard worker. And the best news of all...we will be Bengals once again!!!

It's over!

So I have decided that a wedding is kind of like Christmas. You plan for months and the anticipation builds and then it is over in a single day! It's crazy that you plan your whole life for one day and it is over so quick. Our wedding week was jam packed and we loved spending so much time with our families. We had a dinner the night before the wedding at Market Street. Alan's family did an awesome job at planning the dinner. We absolutely loved our wedding day! The stressful planning was completely worth it because everything turned out better than I could have hoped for! Some of the highlights included: 70 degree weather, going to the temple, having our families with us, beautiful flowers, and the support of everyone that spent the day with us. The reception was a blast and it was so fun to visit with all the people that came to support us. Thank you to everyone who came! We spent the weekend in Heber and we have a trip planned to Cancun in May which we are looking forward to. We are loving life being married and we are staying extremely busy. I never knew it was so much work moving into a home and I have a new appreciation for mothers who cook, clean, and take care of a family. We are renting a basement apartment in Millcreek while we wait to hear where Alan will be attending Pharmacy School in the fall. Thank you to everyone who helped and supported us with the wedding! We love you!

Busy Busy Busy!!!

Well I never knew how much work planning a wedding really is! There is so much to do! We are almost down to the one month mark and there is a never ending list of things to do! Luckily, we found a place to live last week which lowered the stress level considerably. We found a cute little basement apartment and we can start moving our things in the first of March. My fabulous friends threw me a shower a couple weeks ago. I was overwhelmed with how much support my friends gave me and how much work they put into the shower. THANK YOU so much!!! Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of all my friends but here is one of the Utah State Crew

Lisa had her sweet baby Mary and she is absolutely adorable! Congrats Lisa and Jon...I am so happy for you guys!

We doubled with one of Al's mission companions and went to the Kalai concert. The fact that I fell asleep during the concert was a definite sign I am sleep deprived!

And lastly, we went rock climbing a couple weeks ago. I was paranoid because I had never been before but it was a blast!
