Summer Fun

So far we are having a great summer especially since the weather has finally cleared up! We have especially enjoyed the time we have been able to spend with our families. We are taking advantage since we will be moving in August. A couple weeks ago we went to St. George for the weekend with Alan's family.

We celebrated my brother Scott's birthday a couple weeks ago as well.

This is a classic picture of Scott!

The best part of the night was that my nephew Lucas finally said my name!

We are so grateful for our families and the time we get to spend with them. We are so excited about the new addition to our family this past week. My sister and her husband had their first baby on Wednesday. I can't wait to meet baby Weston in two weeks!

Father's Day!

So this year for Father's Day I attempted to be a homemaker and we made homemade presents for our dads. We had a lot of fun baking and decorating the cakes and ending up eating WAY too much frosting in the process. I am seriously impressed with Alan's cake decorating skills! We may start a business in Pocatello.

This is the beginning of the project

After many hours of making two cakes, one batch of rice krispie treats and lots of frosting...this is the finished product!
We are so grateful for our fathers and all that they do for us!

Scofield

A couple weekends ago we went to Scofield Reservoir for the weekend with Alan's dad. He has a cabin there and I have heard so much about it as long as I have known Alan but I have never been there. We had quite the weekend. The weather put a damper in some of our plans but we were still able to do some fishing, ride the four-wheelers, and sat around the camp fire.

One of the highlights of the trip was taking Bodie the dog in our car to the cabin. This required a lot of negotiation and finally we accepted Mikey's offer to cover the backseat with a sheet and clean the car when we got home.

I learned an interesting fact about Alan on the trip. He was an avid boondoggler as a child. We found a piece of boondoggle at the cabin and he showed me how to do it. I know have a fabulous keychain!

The breakfast chefs!

Alan and I were the sequence champions

Memorial Day and the Bees Game

This post is a bit late but we had a fabulous Memorial Day and enjoyed spending time with our families. The evening started off with a barbeque with the Neidig clan. The BBQ consisted of great food, croquet, and entertainment provided by Lucas. We love this boy and have been so blessed since he was born!

After the BBQ we headed over to Alan's house. I played Wii Fit for the first time and unfortunately my age was 35! I've got some work to do!

We also went to the Bees game last weekend with Alan's family. It was a blast and they did fireworks at the end of the game.

And best of all...my sweet husband brought me flowers before the game. I love him!

We are grateful for the time we are able to spend with our families and are so blessed to have them in our lives!

We're Home!!!

We recently returned from our honeymoon to Cancun. It was fabulous and fortunately we didn't have to use these...

The whole Swine Flu scare actually worked out for our benefit because Cancun was absolutely dead! We felt like we had the whole place to ourselves, although, we couldn't help but feel bad for the Mexican economy. We had so much fun and are so grateful everything worked out and we came home safe and healthy! Here are some highlights from the trip...
Here is the view of the pool area at the resort

And here is the view from our room. We were so lucky to have a room that was overlooking the beach...it was beautiful!

We spent the first day just lounging at the beach

We were able to attend church on Sunday. It was a miracle that we were able to find the church...thanks to Alan's Spanish! He had so much fun being able to speak in Spanish and it definitely came in handy finding our way around the town. Lucky for me they asked me to play the piano, however, I don't think the congregation was quite as lucky! I'm a little rusty!

This is in front of the hotel before going into town for dinner one night

We took a ferry over to a little island called Isla de Mujeres one day. We rented a scooter and drove around the island. It was a blast!

We found a little beach that was absolutely beautiful and there were literally only about 10 people there!

That night we went to an awesome Thai restaurant where you ate on a bed in a hut in a tree! The food was great and how often do you get to eat dinner on a bed in a tree?!

We took sail boat lessons one day and sailed for our first time

That night we ate dinner at a restaurant right out on the ocean

We found this on our way back to our hotel and thought it was pretty funny...

We rented a car one day and drove to Tulum and Xel-Ha. Tulum is a place that has ancient Mayan ruins and we snorkeled, biked, and floated down a river at Xel-Ha. We ate dinner in a cute little beach town called Playa Del Carmen that night.

We loved hanging out at the pool and Alan's highlight of the trip was free chips and salsa at happy hour!

It was a perfect honeymoon!
