Christmas Break

The best thing about Christmas Break was having Alan home for a month with no school! It truly was the best thing ever! We really didn't do much which made it so great! It was so fun to have him around and to see him interact with Deacon. He really is the best dad! We took too many cute pictures (of Deacon) not to share. And yes, my blog has definitely turned into Deacon's blog!
Deacon helped wrap his cousin Millie's Christmas gift.
Shopping for Christmas gifts with mom and dad.
Love these two!
Deacon got a new toy (Sammy) and loves it!
He grew out of his suspender shirt, which I am quite sad about!
Deacon is definitely the center of attention at Al's house being the first grandchild!
Obsessed with this little face!
While we were in Utah, we got to meet Melissa's sweet new baby, William. He was born just a month after Deacon.
It was also so fun to see Lisa and her cute little girl Mary. I can't believe we all have babies now!
Deacon also met his new friend Jett! Can't wait for these little guys to be best buds!
Deacon watched lots of football with dad and I think we have a t.v. addict on our hands!
Now it's back to reality and we can't wait until dad's next break from school.

Visitors

The night before we left for Utah for Christmas, the Funks were in town from Nebraska and came to see us. Man do we miss these guys! We loved catching up and seeing little Nixon. I think Deacon and Nixon will be best of friends...too bad they live so far away from each other!
Thank you for coming to see us! Now we need to plan a trip to Nebraska!

Christmas Day 2011

I was absolutely horrible at taking pictures on Christmas day but I managed to capture a few of the festivities. We started out the morning at Alan's house.
Deacon got his very own stocking filled with lots of goodies!
Deacon isn't so sure about his new Sophie toy!
We then headed to Alan's Grandpa's house for brunch. Deacon enjoyed a nap.
Four generations...
We ended the night at my house with a delicious dinner and more gifts. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures! Christmas was so fun this year. We loved having Deacon with us and can't wait until next year when he is a little more aware of what is going on!

Two Months

My baby turned 2 months old on New Year's Day! I can't believe how in love we are with this little boy! He truly has brought so much joy into our home and I can't imagine life without him. I am realizing more and more each day how lucky we are to have such an amazing little baby. Here is what Deacon is up to at 2 months old:
Still LOVES having his diaper changed
Loves his baths and is becoming quite the little fish
Has discovered his hands and loves sucking on them
Loves blowing spit bubbles
Consistently sleeps between 8-10 hours each night
Is on a pretty consistent schedule
Has started taking naps in his crib and loves his chevron walls, crib bumper, and mobile
Enjoys tummy time more and more each day
Loves his play gym, especially the little dangling bug toy
Loves his stuffed giraffe, Sammy
Smiles all the time
Experienced his first cold which was probably more traumatic for mom
Hated his shots
Not a huge fan of his car seat
Chuckles and laughs on occasion

Two Month Stats:
Weight: 12 pounds, 6 ounces-66th percentile
Height: 23 inches: 52nd percentile

Christmas Eve 2011

Christmas Eve was spent with both our families this year. Alan's family had a brunch in the morning where he was introduced to lots of new people who were anxious to meet him.
Here is our little stud dressed to impress!
Christmas Eve night was spent with my family doing our traditional fondue dinner, sibling exchange, nativity, and matching game.
Alan was in charge of the cheese fondue, which is a bit of a stressful task trying to get the consistency just right.
Deacon got in on the action thanks to the Bjorn.
It was so fun to have Deacon here for the holidays. He was a trooper amidst all the chaos.
A big thanks to both our families for such a fun day.

Doctor's Orders

Today was a rough day for Deacon consisting of shots and getting his brains sucked out with a bulb syringe by his doctor. I think he (and I) might have nightmares about this experience for the rest of our lives!
Don't let this happy grin fool you, Deacon was in hysterics shortly after this photo was taken!
Fortunately, it was a beautiful day in Pocatello and we decided that a walk was just what the doctor ordered for all our sanity! We bundled our little boy up and headed out for his first walk outside!
Seeing him all bundled up might have been the cutest thing ever!
The stroller suits him well...
Destination...Phillips 66 for a DC!
Can't wait for Spring when we can go on walks everyday!

The Best Year!

I can't help but feel like 2011 has been one of the best years of my life. It is the year our sweet Deacon was born and I became a mother...which I really feel like is the most sacred and special role I could ever have! I am so grateful for the wonderful gift Deacon is and for everything he has already taught me in 2 short months.

So far, 2012 has come with a sick baby and now a sick mommy...which means lots of tears and stress around our house. However, we are hopeful good health is just around the corner.

So here's to 2012 as a family of 3!
